The Tsar Bomba was tested by the Soviet Union in 1961 and is thought to be the most powerful human-made explosion in history.
In comparison, the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated, the “ Tsar Bomba”, had a yield of 50 megatons – around 3,333 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb. The explosion killed around 70,000 people instantly, with many more dying in the following weeks, months and years from the effects of radiation. The bomb, known as “Little Boy”, was dropped from a plane called the Enola Gay and exploded with the force of around 15 kilotons of TNT.
On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan.
